Visual History of Korea – Jindo Dogs

The Jindo dog is more than a breed. As one of Korea’s treasured Natural Monuments — alongside the Sapsaree and Donggyeongyi — the Jindo stands as a living symbol of Korean loyalty, intelligence, endurance and cultural identity.

At the inaugural 2026 KKF Korea Jindo Specialty Show held in Hwaseong, Korea, four women from around the world were recognized for their dedication to advancing global awareness, appreciation and preservation of the Korean Jindo dog.

• Kinga Nowak (Poland)
• Christy Clemens (United States)

Each was honored for advancing international exchange and for contributing to the preservation and growing global recognition of the Jindo dog breed at a time of expanding worldwide interest in Korean culture, heritage and values.

진도개는 삽살개, 동경이와 함께 대한민국의 천연기념물로 지정된 우리 문화유산이며, 한국인의 문화적 정체성을 상징하는 살아있는 존재입니다.

2026년 5월 9일 경기도 화성에서 열린 제1회 KKF 코리아 진도견 스페셜티쇼에서는 세계 각국에서 진도개의 우수성과 가치를 알리는 데 기여한 네 명의 여성 애견인들이 특별 공로를 인정받았습니다.

이들은 한국 문화와 유산, 그리고 가치에 대한 세계적 관심이 확산되는 가운데, 진도개의 국제 교류 증진과 보존, 그리고 세계적 인지도 향상에 기여한 공로를 인정받아 수상의 영예를 안았습니다.
