I took these photos in North Korea a.k.a. D.P.R.K. in 1995:

Subway train arrives at Pyongyang's "Boo Heung" station. Subwayis dug 100 meters underground in Pyongyang. Subway fare costs 10-jon (5-centsU.S. $ equivalent) regardless of length of distance for Pyongyang residents.Pyongyang city currently has a population of 1.1 million. It was rebuiltafter the 1950-53 Korean War which destroyed most of the city. I was toldby the guide that the city is designed for 2 million population.

At 6:00 a.m. in Pyongsung City located 20 kilometers from the capital cityPyongyang, a resident practices Taekwon-Do (Korean martial art) while othersbroom clean the sidewalk across the stream. Water in the stream is so clearthat I was able to see the rocks and sands at the bottom when I looked downon the water. Even on April 24, 1995 when this photo was taken, morningair was quite chilly and felt quite clean. People there told me that itsnows in Pyongsung city until around mid-March.

Two brothers walk out of Pyongyang Subway Station wearing school uniforms.I was told that all education cost in North Korea is government paid andeveryone is employed after completion of education.
